David Bishop offers over twenty-eight years of architectural, engineering, and administrative experience with a rich, varied background to your project management team. In addition to a long list of commercial and large residential projects, David has extensive experience in federal and municipal projects, particularly for the United States Navy, and various state and local authorities. Our client's depend on David's well-established experience and reputation to manage all phases of project development to ensure that a coordinated and consistent standard of quality is maintained throughout from start to finish.

Following his education at the University of Detroit School of Architecture, Mr. Bishop interned with architectural firms in Detroit, Los Angeles, and San Diego, providing design and construction documents for hospitals, health care facilities, airports, industrial facilities, commercial centers, restaurants, and large multi-family residential projects. He is a California licensed Architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

In 1980 Mr. Bishop established his own architectural practice, Archimatics. This firm produced over 90 completed projects including restaurants, retail centers, custom homes and tenant improvements.

In 1994,  he joined with Paul Joelson AIA to form Bishop & Joelson, David  served as principal architect on a number of projects, including a $1,700,000 earthquake repair of a custom, hillside residence in Bel Air, repairs to several apartment buildings, and renovation and remodeling of a High School Gymnasium in Fullerton, CA

Following the Northridge Earthquake of 1994, Mr. Bishop performed inspections of over 70 damaged structures for a variety of insurance companies, including several large apartment and condominiums projects , the Topanga Mall, and The Hebrew Union College at USC. This included assessment of structural and cosmetic damage and recommendations and estimates of repair.

David's practice of architecture has always been characterized by a strong "hands on" approach to his projects. He provides structural engineering calculations, energy analysis, and pre-design feasibility studies for many of his projects. David was one of the early users of Auto Cad in San Diego, beginning in 1987, he helped establish a CAD users group for the local AIA. For three years he taught computer aided design and drafting at the New School of Architecture in San Diego; Mr. Bishop's participation on any management team offers the client the advantage of his professional, integrity, and unrivaled experience

Projects of note:

The Red Panda Exhibit, Hoof-Stock Nursery, and River Otter Exhibit at the world famous San Diego Zoo. Water-ski Stadium for Sea World of San Diego; the Shark Exhibit at Marine World Africa/USA in Vallejo, CA; a major expansion and upgrade of the Sea and Otter Stadium complex for Sea World of Ohio; a 6 million dollar killer whale pool for Sea World of Florida, and schematic design for a 10 million dollar Killer Whale/Dolphin facility in Hong Kong. Andrew's Camelot--a multi-use center, The Old Del Mar Restaurant at the Flower Hill Mall, The Kraken Restaurant in Cardiff, The Naemi Center--a specialty retail center and several projects for the Fullerton Joint Union High School District.
